Qualifying human activity and claims about it.
At some point in the near future, the origin of actions and artefacts will become indeterminable.
If our paintings, stories and songs are indistinguishable from their machine-made counterparts, then "existence proofs" (merely demonstrating the creation of human actions and artefacts) will no longer be sufficient to convey anything meaningful about them.
A future in which quality, execution and attribution have no consequence feels strangely unfamiliar to us now but has implications worth considering:
- Whatever the future holds, humanity's past remains unchangeable.
- Efforts to preserve the provenance of human work
- The changing function of human memory
